Meet Graciela Gómez: The Heart and Soul of Casa Roja

At Casa Roja, your comfort and experience are our top priorities—and Graciela Gómez, our dedicated resort manager, is here to ensure your stay is unforgettable. From the moment you arrive, Graciela provides a personalized introduction to the property, helping you settle in and feel at home in our little piece of paradise. Throughout your stay, she remains readily available to answer questions, offer guidance, and tailor your experience to your preferences.

Respecting your privacy while delivering top-tier hospitality, Graciela checks in at pre-arranged times each morning and evening. This regular touchpoint helps you plan your day, coordinate excursions, and adjust meal or housekeeping services to suit your needs.

Graciela is much more than a resort manager—she’s your boat driver, guide, and all-around go-to person during your stay. Although she was initially reluctant to take on the many responsibilities of the role, she has grown into her position with pride and enthusiasm. Today, she stands as the only female boat driver and resort manager in the region, a fact we celebrate every day.

A Life Rooted in Southern Costa Rica

Born in Golfito, Graciela has spent her entire life immersed in the natural beauty and unique culture of southern Costa Rica. Having lived and worked in San Vito, Drake Bay, and Sierpe before making Boca her home, she has developed a deep appreciation for the region’s untouched landscapes and its relaxed, unhurried pace. Here, where wildlife often outnumbers people, the stress and fast pace of modern life seem to fade away.

Her journey hasn’t been without challenges. Living and working in a remote area comes with its own set of obstacles, from logistical issues to the inherent demands of caring for a diverse group of guests. Yet, even when the responsibilities feel overwhelming, Graciela’s passion for life at the Boca and her commitment to providing guests with a vacation of a lifetime never wavers. One of her greatest joys is sharing Costa Rica’s rich culinary traditions. Whether it’s preparing a fresh-caught seafood dish or showcasing a local specialty, Graciela delights in sharing the flavors and stories of this beautiful region.

At Casa Roja, we believe that a truly great stay is about the people who make it special. Graciela is at the very heart of that experience, and her journey—from initial hesitation to becoming a proud, trailblazing leader—adds an inspiring layer to your visit. We know you’ll love getting to know her as much as we do. Besides being an excellent chef, Graciela is pretty skilled with a fishing rod!

Pelusa, Sophie, and TingTing are a few of the boca dogs. All of the dogs are friendly, but please let us know if you are uncomfortable around dogs. They help keep animals out of the house at night and help alert us to snakes on hikes. Consider them assets.

Our friendly staff will help you feel at home and allow you to experience the local sights, tastes, and culture of the Boca del Rio Sierpe!
